Match Report

After the recent cup disappointments Otford bounced back with an 8-0 win away to mid table Stansfeld OB.

Returning Andrew Knight opened the scoring in the eighteenth minute when he finished well after being put through by Jamie Knight. Dave Finnigan made it two from close range after good work from midfielder Luke Parker, Chris Baldwin and Rory Catt.

Parker made it 3-0 with probably the goal of the match after brothers Andrew and Jamie Knight combined well and crossed to Parker who struck an unbeatable curling shot into the top right hand corner giving the Stansfeld keeper no chance.

The main thing now was keeping the effort in the second half, but to be fair to Stansfeld lifted their game but couldn’t get the breakthrough with Sam Truman and Ryan Lee holding firm in defence with keeper Justin Lee in unbeatable form.

Otford made it 4 when a speculative pass found Jamie Knight in the Stansfeld box where he scored with his second attempt, but he made no mistake with his diving header from a long Mike Cunningham free kick to make it 5-0.

With the Stansfeld defence losing a bit of heart Catt made it 6-0 after 16 year old Harry Hudson substitute came on and his pin point pass saw Catt finish well. Catt then went to score two more goals on the break and earn himself a well taken hatrick.

“The players did everything I asked of them and fully deserved the win, it was good to see them take their chances and play with a confidence that has been coming over the last few weeks” Otford manager Mike Langston
